Despair at another WA death in custody on eve of national day of action

It is tragic to know that on the eve of this week’s National Day of Action to put an end to deaths in custody, another young person has died in Western Australia.

The news that a young Aboriginal man has passed away at Perth’s Casuarina Prison, is such a tragedy.

“We don’t have all the facts at this stage, but our thoughts are with the family and friends of this young man at such a sad time” said ALSWA CEO Dennis Eggington.

ALSWA is not providing additional comments at this stage, until more information is known about this matter.
