Child Safety and Wellbeing Statement of Commitment

 ALSWA is committed to protecting the safety and wellbeing of all children including children who access or interact with our staff and services. We strive to hold ourselves, external agencies and the community to account for the safety and wellbeing of children and uphold the Convention on the Rights of Child.

We are committed to ensuring children who access our services or interact with our staff and services are treated with respect and in a manner that ensures their physical, mental, emotional and cultural safety. We agree to implement the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations.

We aim to empower children and promise to listen to the views of children and respect their right to be heard. We acknowledge and respect the diversity of children including gender diversity, cultural diversity, children with disability and children living in urban, regional and remote areas.

We have zero tolerance for any form of child abuse and have processes in place to identify and respond to incidents involving any form of harm to children by our organisation. We comply with all our reporting obligations regarding child safety.

Child Safety is a shared responsibility between ALSWA, its Board of Directors, Executive and Senior Management, employees, volunteers and contractors.
